BY INVITATION OF THE
FARNESE Farnesian tour of the Tuscia region
LATERA
The town rises on the valley
that bears the same name and is immersed in the green of a chestnut wood. Its intact urban
structure preserves medieval and Renaissance characteristics. Paul III gave it to the
descendants of Bartolomeo Farnese who lived in the building that rises in the heart of the
town. In 1648, Pier Francesco Farnese was responsible for the first waterworks system that
to this day feeds the fountain known as the Fontana del Duca (the Dukes
Fountain ).
