| A typical spurred built up
area that stretches out onto a narrow tufaceous wedge, including two waterways, at the end
of which a Rocca (stronghold) rises that was transformed into a residence by the
Farnese family during the XV - XVII centuries. A short distance from the centre , isolated
and immersed in greenery is the church of S.Egidio (patron saint of the town)
built approximately in 1520 using Antonio da Sangallos design under Farnese order.
Less than four kilometres from Cellere is the small village of Pianiano, its medieval
structure still intact. It became famous towards the end of the last century for the
continuous presence of the brigand Tiburzi. Index |
